The big question! What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a unique therapeutic practice where challenging thoughts, emotions and experiences are creatively explored, voiced and processed. Art therapy offers support by nurturing a safe environment for self-exploration where you can process and express feelings about your personal stories. The process of voicing stories through art-making (for example drawing, painting, sewing) can be immensely empowering, transformative, joyful, and healing. It fosters confidence, resiliency, positive relational connection, and mental wellness.

Even though it is often considered a great fit for children because their most familiar and natural form of communication is play, art therapy is a wonderful therapeutic modality for all ages.

AND the most super-duper important thing to remember is that no artistic experience or talent is needed to enjoy the benefits of the creative process!
